You Got Your PlusCard – So What?

Maybe you’re one of the new freshmen who got a PlusCard during Freshman Orientation. Or maybe you are a junior who passed the UCCU branch one day and walked in to get one! Whoever you may be, you likely have wondered what this card is and what it means for you. In this article You Got Your PlusCard – So What, we will discuss the PlusCard and why it is important. We will also talk about how the UCCU branch on campus can be a great overall financial resource for you.
What’s Up With the PlusCard?
The PlusCard is a combined card that includes your UVU Student ID, a debit card with UCCU, and your UTA bus pass. Not only does this limit the amount of cards you have in your wallet, but it is an easy way to get connected to all the resources UCCU has to offer students. Plus, it’s free!
When you get a debit card with UCCU, you open a Checking and Savings account. For those ages 18-25, we have a free Checking account option called Elevated Checking. This account has 14 unique benefits tailored to students, including free telehealth, roadside assistance, loan discounts, cell phone protection, and more!
Why Utah Community Credit Union?
If you are wondering if it’s worth it to bank with UCCU if you already bank somewhere else, you are not the only one. Many students talk about how they already have an account somewhere else, but it is totally acceptable to have multiple accounts with different banks!
A huge advantage to this is getting access to the different benefits each financial institution has. Here are just some of the things you can get access to when banking with UCCU:
- Learn and Earn: This feature on the mobile app lets you learn about different financial topics and earn gift cards once you have completed enough modules!
- 360 Aggregation: On the mobile app and online banking, you can connect all of your bank accounts into one place. This includes credit cards, loan accounts, and other checking/savings accounts.
- Credit Builder: A credit builder loan helps you build or rebuild credit in a simple and stress-free way.
- Credit Score Toolbox: If you have a credit card or have taken out loans, this tool allows you to see your credit score, simulate different impacts on your score, and know how you can improve it.
- Savings Goals: This feature on the mobile app and online banking helps you make a savings goal for a specific thing over a specific timeline. For example, if you need to save $200 for Christmas gifts to buy for your family, this tool can help you stay on track.
From building credit to helping you save money, UCCU has a tool for everyone.
What Can the Branch Help With?
Having a UCCU branch on campus is greatly beneficial to all UVU students. Branch members there are ready to help with whatever financial questions and concerns they may have.
If you are ready to get a car or home loan, make a quick stop at the branch and they can help guide you through that! If you are new to the finance world and want your first credit card, come to the branch and they can show you your options! Whatever stage of life you are at, you can take advantage of this resource that is at the heart of campus.
