Was your phone lost, stolen, or damaged? By paying your phone bill out of an Elevated Checking account at UCCU, you are eligible for replacement or reimbursement coverage! Receive up to $600 per incident (up to 2 claims and a maximum $1,000 within a 12-month timeframe) on a mobile device within your phone plan.

Access Cell Phone Protection

  1. Open an Elevated Checking Account with UCCU.
    • Any phone within your mobile plan that is paid for with your Elevated Checking account is eligible for coverage.
  2. Login to your UCCU Digital Banking online or in your mobile app.
  3. In the menu, select “Services” then select “Elevated Checking” to find your Elevated Checking Identity Code (usually a 7-digit number)
  4. Select ‘Cell Phone Protection’ and follow the instructions to complete your request.
    • Documentation including account statements, billing statements, purchase receipts, police reports (for stolen devices), and any repair estimates may be needed to restore or replace your device.

Does UCCU cover all cell phone brands?

Yes. UCCU’s cell phone coverage is based off of the phones value rather than the brand of phone you have. Whether you have the latest phone or have used the same phone for the last 5 years, UCCU will cover up to $600 per claim (max $1,000 within a 12-month time-period). Does my mobile device need to be paid off to receive protection?

No. All phones are eligible for cell phone protection up to $600 per claim (max $1,000 within a 12-month time-period) regardless if the phone is paid off or not. For more information, you can also visit UCCU Digital Banking. In the menu, select “Services” then select “Elevated Checking”

Are other phones on my plan eligible to receive protection?

Yes. UCCU’s Elevated Checking Cell Phone Protection includes coverage extended to the primary line and also up to three secondary additional, or supplemental lines as listed on your cellular provider’s monthly billing statement. Note that only two claims may be made within a 12-month period.

Can I use this coverage along with other active cell phone protection plans?

Yes. The Cell Phone protection can also be used as supplemental insurance in part with any other active cell phone protection plans you may be on. To receive UCCU’s Cell Phone Protection, you may also be reimbursed up to $600 per incident (up to $1,000 within a 12-month timeframe).

For example, Let’s say your phone is damaged and your total replacement cost is $1200. If your own personal phone coverage pays for $900 in repair costs, then you will be required to pay the final $300 out of pocket. If you submit a claim with UCCU’s Cell Phone Protection, then you can submit your out of pocket receipt for a potential $300 dollar reimbursements.

Note that coverage of your device by your personal phone plan may be different than the UCCU Cell Phone Protection plans.
