Federal CARES Act Mortgage Forbearance Information

We want to keep you as informed and prepared as possible regarding mortgage forbearance relief options. If you are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 we encourage you to read the information below and, as always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

You may have the option to temporarily pause your mortgage payments. This is called a forbearance. Forbearance is a temporary suspension of your mortgage payments, allowing you to remain in your home while working through short-term financial challenges.

Please note: the government’s forbearance program is not a payment forgiveness program. The program will pause your payments, but payments will need to be repaid at the end of the forbearance plan. If you are seeking a forbearance plan, continue making your mortgage payments until your forbearance plan has been approved.

UCCU mortgage payment grace period

UCCU provides you with a 15-day grace period to help provide flexibility in making monthly mortgage payments. If your mortgage payment was due on the first of the month, remember that you have a grace period until the 15th to make your payment without any penalties, late fees, or harm to your credit. Payment can be made inside the UCCU Mobile app, online or over the phone at 801-223-7304.

What if I cannot make a mortgage payment?

If the pandemic has caused financial hardship that prevents you from paying your mortgage, UCCU will make every effort to help. Short-term relief: you may have the option to temporarily pause your mortgage payments. This is called a forbearance. Forbearance is a temporary suspension of your mortgage payments created by the Federal CARES Act, allowing you to remain in your home while working through short-term financial challenges. UCCU is able to suspend your mortgage payments for up to 180 days. At the conclusion of the forbearance period, all of your deferred payments must be repaid. This means that all mortgage payments skipped will need to be paid back according to your individual forbearance repayment plan. UCCU will work with you to find a payment solution that works for you.
