Experience UCCU’s Super Easy Banking
As we continue to move forward from a year that brought many challenges, I want to reaffirm this credit union’s commitment to being a financial institution that our members and communities can trust and rely on.
Super Easy Banking are three simple words that reflect UCCU’s unwavering dedication to improving the financial lives of the people we serve, as well as our ongoing commitment to pioneering advanced technologies that make banking faster, easier, and safer.
For example, UCCU’s Mobile Banking App makes it “Super Easy” to do your banking anytime, anywhere, right from your phone or computer. From simple things; like making deposits and paying your bills, to more complex banking needs; like getting pre-approved for a mortgage or auto loan before you start shopping, or opening a home equity line of credit without ever visiting a branch.
Super Easy Banking also means that our members can always count on getting the personal help and assistance they need from real, local professionals – which is why we’re thrilled to be opening new UCCU branch locations in Draper and Herriman.
In addition to providing a carefully balanced experience of human interaction and the latest technology, these new branch locations will help meet the demands of UCCU’s growing membership, which continues to expand throughout the state.
To celebrate the opening of our new branches, UCCU is giving away a new UTV!
You can learn more details at uccu.com/giveaway.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance with any of your financial needs.

Board Member Spotlight
Teri Chatterton brings over 40 years of experience in Information Technology to UCCU’s Board of Directors, where she plays an invaluable role in helping this financial institution continue to be a leader in advancing new technologies that make banking easier and more convenient for our members. In addition to serving as a voluntary member of the board, Teri is the current secretary of the board and recently completed a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from BYU.
What made you decide to pursue a Master’s Degree?
Getting my Master’s was sort of a “Bucket List” thing for me, but I was also interested in how Public Administration relates to a credit union, especially as a not-for-profit. Learning more about non-profit law, non-profit finance, and many other things really provided me with a lot of new perspectives about how complex technologies can simplify our lives.
What role do complex technologies play at UCCU?
The lesson that technology teaches us —over and over—is that tech is all about making the experience better for the user. And that’s something UCCU really understands.
This financial institution is all about the member experience, so the board of directors and management are always focused on doing anything they can to make banking easier and more convenient for our members. That’s been really exciting, especially over the past few years, as banking technology has really advanced and progressed.
Can you give us one example of how complex technologies simplify our financial lives?
Well, just look at UCCU’s Mobile Banking. We describe it as “banking at your fingertips” because that’s what it is—the ability to do your banking anywhere, anytime, from your phone or computer. And this isn’t just day-to-day banking, like making a mobile deposit or transferring a balance. This is the ability to buy or refinance a home faster and easier than ever before. It’s the convenience of getting a home equity line of credit without ever walking into a UCCU branch. There are so many examples.
What should members expect as the credit union moves forward?
That we’ll continue to be in the forefront of new technology. Technology changes so fast that if you want to remain a leader, you constantly have to change. This board understands that, and we’re dedicated to it. We’re always looking to improve the experience of banking at UCCU, and we’ll always bring new technologies and features that will enhance our members’ financial lives.

How many Utah National Parks have you experienced?

Experience UTV-ing in Utah
We sat down with Chris Tolman, Vice President of UTV Utah, to learn why people love to ride utility terrain vehicles, and maybe even get a few tips for some great off-roading in Utah.
Did you discover your love of UTV riding as an adult, or was it something you grew up with?
I actually grew up on a dirt bike in Southern California. As an adult, I moved to Utah to pursue an MBA at the U and when I finished my degree, I decided to reward myself with a UTV. Up until then, I had never ridden a UTV in my life.
Why did you decide to get a UTV instead of a dirt bike?
Because when you wreck on a bike, it hurts! I knew that off-roading was something I wanted to do with my family and since I had two young children, I was really drawn to how much safer UTVs are than dirt bikes. So I did some research, and when I became confident that it was something I felt safe doing with my wife and kids, I bought my first UTV.
What makes Utah such a popular off-roading destination?
Well, the sheer variety of riding we have in Utah is unparalleled. From dunes, to rock climbing, to high-speed trials, you really can find anything you want to do.
So where can someone find great places to off-road?
Where to start? There’s Moab, of course—which is world-famous, for good reason. Moab has so many great trails, like Fins & Things, Gemini Bridges, Moab Rim, and on and on. But not as many people know about the great trails in other places in Utah, like the Paiute Trail, in Marysvale, or any of the fantastic trails in Vernal, like Moonshine Arch and Doc’s Beach.
For people looking for somewhere to ride that’s closer to Salt Lake, I recommend Little Moab, in Utah Valley, which is a great area to ride with a few different choices of terrain, as well as Five Mile Pass.
The truth is, you really can’t go wrong. Just remember to be safe, be respectful—to each other and to Mother Nature—and be prepared to have a great time.
